Not In Your Face

Since 2009, Susan Barnett has photographed people in the streets who are wearing T-shirts with unusual messages or visuals. She systematically adopted the same perspective, capturing the back of her models. A rather common item of clothing, like blue jeans or sneakers, the T-shirt has become a communication tool. An emblem of global pop culture, it allows everyone to express their personality, their state of mind or their opinion, thus asserting their differences or affiliations. These photographs were randomly placed outside throughout the town, as a reference to the diverse contexts when shooting the Not In Your Face series.
