In 2011, Taylor Jones launched a participatory website based on a simple idea: Users take a picture of an old picture of theirs that they like, at the exact same location as the original, and send it to the blog, providing context with a short caption. Following the concept of the image in the image, the Dear Photograph project included a textual layer by allowing contributors to share a personal story. First days of school, birthdays, romantic dates, these images recall the materiality of the analog photography at a time of widespread dematerialization of the digital image.
