Thank You, Come Again
Winner of the Grand Prix Images Vevey 1999/2000, Thank You, Come Again explores the transition to a service economy in the big cities of Eastern Europe after the fall of communist regimes. Wolfgang Stahr staged the cultural effects of capitalist society in his photographs of urban landscapes and interior architecture. He also took portraits of individuals whose profession requires they pay extreme attention to their appearance: their clothing, hairstyle and even their attitude thus becoming symbols of role differentiation in the public sphere.
