With my Family looks like any ordinary collection of family snapshots. Yet, the apparent banality of these portraits by Hans Eijkelboom conceals a clever deception. For this specific body of work, the artist embedded himself into various households across the Netherlands and takes four portraits in which he is seamlessly occupying the position of the absent husband and father. The installation mischievously parodies the traditional nuclear family structure, highlighting how strictly defined social roles and conventions dictate the way a family is visualized.
