Amato charts the remarkable journey of Marie-Pierre Cravedi’s grandfather. Born in Italy, Amato (1914–2014) fled his homeland during the Second World War for Casablanca, where he founded a mechanical workshop. In 2019, the photographer discovered that the workshop was surprisingly still running. Set against the backdrop of a declining industry and a youth looking toward the future, the installation explores what is passed down, what disappears, and what endures within the family and in places marked by history.
