The Swiss Camera Museum is pleased to present the new book Swiss Camera Museum by Henry Leutwyler, published by Steidl. Published on the occasion of the Bicentenary of the invention of photography, this book marks a major milestone in the history of the museum and in the promotion of its collection, unique in Switzerland and Europe.

An internationally renowned photographer, Henry Leutwyler set up his studio at the heart of the museum’s collections and offers in this book a fascinating and stimulating journey, turning technical objects into characters in their own aesthetic and cultural history. Through his original, playful and sharp perspective, photographic objects come to life in striking visual compositions, both playful and scholarly. The book invites a wide audience — photography enthusiasts, amateurs and connoisseurs alike — to take a fresh look at cameras and photographic treasures that are rarely brought to light, as well as at a heritage whose relevance is more central than ever.

This book has been awarded the Bicentenary of Photography label by the French Ministry of Culture and is part of the official programme of the Bicentenary from September 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027.
