Beggar’s Honey is an exploration of the underground world of click farms. Click farms are covert operations responsible for artificially inflating content engagement metrics on social media, manipulating algorithms with serious consequences, from influencing consumer behavior to compromising the integrity of democratic processes. Jack Latham‘s project aims to expose for the first time the inner workings of click farms. By juxtaposing the captivating and the secretive – images gleaned from TikTok and photographs of click farms in Vietnam and Hong Kong – he challenges our perception of the digital landscape and prompts us to question the authenticity of the content we are confronted with on a daily basis.

Beggar’s Honey was awarded the Images Vevey Heidi.news Reportage honorable mention of the Images Vevey Grand Prix 2019/2020 by the jury chaired by Dayanita Singh.

The project was produced and funded by Images Vevey, with generous support from the Stanley Thomas Johnson Foundation and Heidi.news.
