“A dog is man’s best friend”: Mazaccio & Drowilal put a brilliantly playful spin on this expression with a comical series of dogs admiring sunsets. In 2013, created during an artist residency, the project features a dozen or so pooches belonging to a dog groomer in Chalon-sur-Saône, all photographed against a blue background. By replacing humans with dogs in these universal scenes, the artists cast an ironic yet tender eye on the bond between pets and their owners. Installed facing Lake Geneva, Le Meilleur Ami du Chien serves as a witty tribute to the central place these companions hold in our families.
