Taking their cue from the cult film La Dolce Vita (1960), the ‘paparazzi’ take photos of stars, blurring the lines between intimacy and scandal. For their series, Mazaccio & Drowilal appropriate the online images and insert them into deskstop wallpaper-style landscapes. Through decontextualization and accumulation, these collages compose absurd scenes where glamour is swallowed by the mundane. Through humour, Paparazzi highlights the banality of celebrities’ daily lives, stripping away the fame to reveal a family dynamic just like any other.
